Party Gaming to Revisit U.S. Market?

While most of us have welcomed in the holiday season for a chance to unwind and relax, the rumor mill in the online gambling industry has shown no signs of slowing down. This week rumors that poker firm Party Gaming could be looking to rejuvenate its American interests has been heavily reported in online gambling media. However, without an official Party Gaming statement to the effect, the news remains nothing but unsubstantiated rumor at this stage.
Party Gaming was forced to curb its online gambling activities in the U.S last year following Congress's decision to adopt anti-gambling legislation. The new law, originally introduced to Congress by Senator Bill Frist, has made it illegal for financial institutions to process transactions from American casino players to offshore and local online gambling operators. Known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, the bill became law on October 13, and was responsible for the severe setback the online gambling industry experienced by way of falling share prices.
Despite the legislation, several private companies continue to offer services to American players. Others have sought to diversify their product range to appeal to new international markets.
