Real Time Gaming To Head of Costa Rica?
U.S legislation against online gambling has decimated the fortunes of gaming firms in recent months and resulted in many pulling out of the market altogether. The latest rumors concerning an imminent pullout focus on Real Time Gaming (RTG), currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. According to reports on a popular online gambling portal, RTG is winding down its U.S operations with the view of setting up shop in Costa Rica. The reports go on to suggest that a substantial number of the firm's staff will lose their jobs and will not be relocated to the new Costa Rica operation. The news was broken to staff by the firm's management at a meeting last week. RTG recently failed to sell its business interests to a prospective buyer in the software business. The firm was a major player in the early days of the online gambling phenomenon and has provided casino software to firms since 1998. The company made large profits during 2000-2003, largely thanks to several high profile clients including Bodog. However, 2004 proved less than satisfactory for RTG with receding profits and fewer clients. While reports of the firm's plan to abandon its U.S operations is still rumor, RTG's website no longer contains any information relating to its client lists. The only contact address the firm displays online is that of its sales office based in Curacao.
