The German Association of Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media carried out a thorough study to access the progress of online gambling. The study report of the previous year suggests that that 2.2 million Germans accessed the internet for online gambling.
According to the last survey report, only 2 million Germans resorts to internet to hunt for information and updates on sports, entertainment, play poker, or buy lottery tickets. The study revealed that more than 1.7 million German males, and 300,000 females, spent their time gambling online during the year in which the study was carried out.
Women are more interested in buying lotteries, with lady gamblers constituting about 64 percent of the gamblers in this field, while 57 percent men gambled on the lotteries. Lottery gaming as per studies is the most frequently played game compared to other forms of gambling. As per data, the figures remain almost constant just like the figures last year when 430,000 Germans played online poker, 700,000 played the lotteries, and other similar casino games, and 500,000 gambled into sporting events.
According to the executive spokesperson for Bitkom, Achim Berg, the study report directly reflects the hype online gambling enjoys in Germany. As per these spokespersons, given the popularity of online gambling, laws pertaining to online gambling need to be relaxed and updated by March 2010 to keep up with the changing times.
A fresh survey of the German gambling market reveals that the market should spread consistently and online gambling will become a prominent lucrative industry in Europe which will earn excellent revenue by 2010.
