888 Holdings chief executive John Anderson believes the future of online gaming will be influenced by a number of key factors. In a recent interview with “The Times” the Scotsman echoed the sentiments of the company’s co-founder Shai Ben Yitzhak by predicting that consolidation will play a key role in the future of the online gaming industry.

Ben Yitzhak, also the CEO of Random Logic, has previously stated that after the online gambling boom, the market will be dominated by a handful of large gaming companies. In preparation for this vision of the future, 888 Holdings has started to focus on acquisitions. The decision to add a sports betting site to its core business is considered a smart move, according to industry insiders.

In his interview with “The Times” Anderson told journalist Dominic Walsh that while the company is currently planning a sports betting venture, he has not engaged in talks with any sports betting firm as yet. Anderson also pointed out that 888 Holdings will be purchasing a sports betting site that targets the Asian market, advising that the company does not intend to involve itself with the American market where sports betting is deemed illegal under the Wire Act.

888 Holdings is the largest online gaming company in the world with a current market cap of $1.24 billion. Its main competitor is poker giant PartyGaming, which recently announced that it has surpassed 888 Holdings as the world’s largest provider of online games due to the launch of its new blackjack venture. In his interview, Anderson appeared unconcerned when Walsh presented these claims.
