Neteller Assures Player Funds Secure Amidst Growing Concern

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) sent shockwaves through the online gambling industry when U.S. Congress voted it into law last year. This week its effects were felt by American casino players attempting to access their funds through the Isle of Man transaction processing firm NETeller.

The company has been at a loss to pay out its American customers after UIGEA complicated the financial channels available to it. NETeller's management have issued a statement urging customers to be patient while the firm attempts to find some way of awarding payments.

A company statement seeking to reassure casino players read "As a top priority, we are working to resolve all withdrawal issues, but in the meantime we continue to maintain these funds in trust on your behalf. Please check this page regularly for more updates." The firm's answering service has also been set up to advise customers that to date "NETeller does not have an estimated time for resolution."

NETeller has been quick to reassure online gambling fans that their funds are safe and secure. However, the decision to suspend ATM card privileges for American customers caused widespread anxiety last week. The firm has set up a Frequently Asked Questions page at www.updates.neteller.com, along with an information email service that players can choose to sign up to from NETeller's website.
