NETeller Customers Experience Further Delays

Despite a court hearing on February 16, the U.S Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York has provided no further information in its case against online transaction merchant NETeller.  Instead, it appears that those fans waiting to retrieve their winnings from the firm may have to wait for the results of a further hearing on March 16.

U.S legislators issued warrants for the arrest of Canadian NETeller founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre in January, charging them with conspiracy to transfer funds with the intent to promote illegal online gambling.

Subsequently, approximately $55 million of the firm's funds were frozen by authorities. According to FBI agent Neil Donovan, the funds are being used in court as evidence and there is currently no news on when they will be returned to NETeller customers.

The latest statement on the firm's website reads "As a result of the restrictions placed by third parties, court-ordered seizures and related legal concerns, (NETeller) is unable to make payments to U.S. customers.”
