Ex-CEO Of Gamebookers Gets New Posting
The Party Gaming group has bestowed the new title of Chief Games Officer on John O'Malia, the former CEO of Gamebookers. O'Malia, a former City trader, previously headed Gamebookers, an Antigua-based, Bulgarian-run sports betting group, prior to its acquisition by Party Gaming in late 2006 for Euros 102 million.
O'Malia has been actively running sports betting companies since 2001. He spearheaded the development of BetBug.com with 1X Inc, and then as CEO of Trident Gaming plc, orchestrated the purchase of BetBug and Gamebookers.com in 2005
Trident transformed and grew the Gamebookers business through aggressive online and offline marketing under O'Malia's stewardship, using a combination of guerilla marketing and classic traffic-building and brand-building campaigns.
At approximately the same time that Gamebookers itself was acquired by PartyGaming, and following a series of smaller sports sponsorship campaigns, Gamebookers launched its shirt-sponsorship deal with Nantes FC in August 2006.
