SportingBet Chief Denies Rumors
SportingBet chief Nigel Payne has gone on the record to deny rumors that he intends to leave the gambling firm for rival PartyGaming. Payne was forced to make a general statement after company executives warned that ongoing rumors could force down the share price. The rumors surfaced when several of the industry’s leading analysts predicted that Payne’s successful term at SportingBet had made him a strong candidate for the PartyGaming job. The poker giant is currently seeking a replacement for out-going CEO Richard Segal, who cited “family reasons” as the reason for his departure. Segal declined to relocate to Gibraltar with PartyGaming earlier this year. While Payne’s track record with the second largest online betting operation in the world has made him more than capable of taking over Segal’s work, the SportingBet chief has refused to express interest in the position. "I am firmly locked into Sportingbet, and I have no desire to move elsewhere," his statement read.
