888 Casino is about to become the proud sponsor of two new poker shows to be aired across the United Kingdom in April. The Challenge television network will screen "Women's Poker" every night from 10 p.m. for two weeks commencing on April 3, while "Showbiz Poker" can be seen during the week at 10.30 p.m. from April 17.

Celia Taylor of Challenge TV says that women are becoming more visible in the poker arena and proving highly competitive in what has traditionally been seen as a male dominated sport. "We are always ahead of the game in poker programming and women are about to clean up in the male dominated poker world," Taylor said.
"Women's Poker" specifically targets the increasing number of women participating in poker games and will star celebrity poker enthusiasts, along with established poker professionals. Viewers at home will be able to compete against each other. The second show "Showbiz Poker" will follow the format of a celebrity tournament with a total prize pool of 25,000 pounds sterling up for grabs.

A number of other poker tournaments and programs can be seen on Challenge TV, including the World Series of Poker, the World Poker Tour and Celebrity Poker Showdown.
