"Team Poker Room" Heads to Vegas for World Poker Tour Champs
Poker Room, one of the most popular online poker sites on the internet, is this year sending its largest team ever to compete in the World Poker Tour World Championships in Las Vegas. 19 poker players from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups will face off against some of the world’s top poker professionals at the event which commences on April 18 at the prestigious Bellagio Hotel.
Poker Room’s management will be hoping that on April 24, the final will consist of one or more of its squad. Each player is receiving approximately $27,900 each from the online casino firm, including accommodation, travel and the $25,000 buy-in for the tournament.
More than 100 poker players competed for a coveted spot in the Poker Room team. Players battled against each other through online qualifying tournaments for a chance to represent the casino firm at arguably the world’s most popular live poker event. Those that made the team come from all walks of life, including a Texan sales representative and an investment banking analyst from California.
Glen Cademartori, a Poker Room spokesperson, announced the 19 man squad that will compete in Las Vegas and said that Poker Room provides a valuable location for players to learn from each other and build their poker skills. "Team Poker Room is as much about the camaraderie among the players and enthusiasm for the game as it is about the competition and earning a seat to play in the biggest tournaments like the WPT World Championship," said Cademartori.
