After qualifying for the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour at San Remo Championship tournament, in a PokerStars qualifier satellite, this weekend online poker player Jason Mercier overcame the efforts of an outstanding stellar international entry field and won the first prize of $1,340,867.

This outstanding player who hails from the U.S. essentially dominated the play from the second day of the event. He was eventually able to deal with Anthony Lelouche, his last heads up opponent, in less than three hours.

To gain the title of winner, Mercier was able to overcome a remarkable list of esteemed players that included William Thorson of Sweden, Dario Minieri and Gregory Genovese of Italy, Dag Palovic from Slovakia, Eric Koskas and Anthony Lelouche of France, along with US countryman Marcus Bower.

Second place winner Lelouche went home with $779,215.
