BetFair Hints at Joining U.S. Market
Christian Hellmers, Betfair’s director of business, has caused tongues in the online casino industry to wag this week after he hinted that the gaming firm could soon be focusing its attention on the lucrative U.S. market. Industry analysts interpreted Hellmers’ comments as a possible indication that the continuously expanding betting exchange plans to move into the U.S.
Hellmers was reported as stating that Betfair could provide $50 million in revenue for the U.S. in new shared revenues and could potentially increase the $134 million sports betting market in the country. Gross revenue in the market is predicted to total $30 million by 2007 and $50 million by 2008.
