ECOGRA Launches 100 Seals Campaign
Casino players all over the world are celebrating the launch of a new campaign by the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance group (eCOGRA) this week. Following the announcement that seven new poker sites have earned the organization’s "Play It Safe" seal, eCOGRA has initiated a new campaign to boost the number of online casinos and poker rooms committed to safe gambling to 100 by the end of 2006. Known as "100 Seals Campaign," its target is to increase the high standards commonly found at eCOGRA’s member sites by increasing the number of sites permitted to sport the Play it Safe seal from 76 to 100. The campaign will be marketed heavily at the upcoming annual Global Interactive Gaming Summit & Expo (GIGSE) 2006 in Montreal, Canada. eCOGRA’s chairman Michael Hirst will facilitate a session at the expo on Wednesday May 17 entitled, ‘Self-Regulation: Best Practices to Play It Safe.’ According to Andrew Bevridge, the organization’s CEO, casinos and poker rooms that currently own a Play it Safe seal already handle a substantial percentage of the total global online gaming business. “We intend to extend the player protection that is built into our international standards by bringing more top-tier online gaming software providers and licensees on board before the year's end,” Bevridge said. "If you’re ready to meet the 21st century challenges facing the industry, we’d like to invite you to join the 100 Seals Campaign and become one of the most respected 100 online gaming sites in the world." Eligible sites are now are undergoing eCOGRA’s third-party inspection and monitoring process. The “Play It Safe” seal is a valuable commodity in the online gaming world for the security it provides to players, who recognize the seal as marking an honest and trustworthy site. Participants in the 100 Seal Campaign will receive an independent “Fair Gaming Advocate” to help mediate player disputes with a target deadline of 72 hours. Professional training and marketing support is also provided which strictly adheres to eCOGRA’s responsible gaming standards.
