According to British media reports this week, skill gaming fans will soon be able to access GameAccount’s gaming platform through Five’s website. The popular free to air television channel has reportedly signed a deal with the United Kingdom’s pre-eminent skill gaming firm to launch a new portal branded as Five Play, Win at Play and Win.five.tv.

The television station will offer viewers the opportunity to register and play skill games for fun or for real money. The deal is being viewed as a a major win for GameAccount. Over 50 million UK residents regularly tune in to Five, which since 1997 has claimed a share of 67.3 percent of total viewing across the country’s commercial networks.

According to Laura Bowles, Five’s Commercial Development Manager, skill gaming is a new frontier for Five. “We want to offer innovative and engaging online experiences for our viewers,” she said. “We are aiming to tie in our broadcast capacity with our skill games offering in order to open up new revenue channels and further narrow the gap between online and TV.”

GameAccount’s chief executive, Kevin Dale, announced the deal and has said that partnerships between gaming and media companies are creating significant cross-over opportunities. ”Skill Games provide a low barrier to entry into cross-media advertising channels and appeals strongly to audiences who like to play recognizable games for real money, comparable to the Bingo or Poker phenomena,” he said. “We’re seeing very healthy player conversion rates and revenues from this type of deal.”

The company aims to acquire further customers through effectively marketed branded portals associated with the world’s leading media companies. It intends to offer a comprehensive range of non-download multiplayer skill games such as mah jong and gin rummy, on the Five site.
