In the latest news on deals and mergers, an agreement between the British arm of a German betting firm and the UK branch of AOL could soon bring sports betting to UK AOL members. A large range of sporting events including horse racing is expected to be offered by JAXX, which is a subsidiary of the German sports betting company FLUXX.
Spokesperson for FLUXX AG, Rainer Jacken, told media that he believes the British market has the potential to yield 70 billion euro in sports betting revenue. He pointed out that the online betting market is still young and relatively under developed in the UK. He expects the deal with AOL to capitalize on this.
Jacken’s comments were echoed by Michael Steckler, head of interactive marketing for AOL Europe, who told media that the firm has ambitious plans for its activities in Europe and is currently seeking partnerships with established firms in the region.
The two firms have a long standing relationship in Germany where they have worked together providing a successful lottery service since 2003.
