According to statistics from the Norwegian Gambling Commission, its citizens really enjoy online gambling even though the country’s government frowns upon Internet gambling.

Figures recently published by the Commission, according to ISA-guide the entertainment journal, indicated that the Norwegian Internet gambling sphere expanded by six point one percent in 2007 when online gambling is enjoyed as an assessed 244,000 participants.

961 million euros were spent on the Internet by Norwegians, according to the Commissions revelations, and eighty two point nine percent, namely, seven hundred and ninety seven million euros were taken by overseas firms, as well as another two hundred fifty eight million dollars going into the Norsk Rikstoto and Norsk Tipping.

A representative sample of some ten thousand Norwegians varying in ages from sixteen to seventy four took part in research, and this showed that during 2007 some twelve percent of adult men in Norway gamble on the Internet, yet only two percent of women did so. Cell phones were preferred for gambling online by an amazing nine percent of the gambling online adults.

Forty eight percent of the sample preferred the Internet game of Norwegian Lotto, after this came twenty eight percent who preferred online poker, twenty seven percent went for the sports betting and seven percent preferred casino games. 

Twenty one percent’s favorite site was Unibet, while fourteen percent liked Betsson most, eleven percent preferred the Expekt site and the last favored site was ten percent of betters preferring NordicBet.

In 2007, the gambling addiction helpline received fifty two percent of telephone poker-related calls.
