States and Feds gearing up for a major clash
In general the Attorney general office of many states are against any type of legislation for online gambling on a federal level. If such legislation would go in to effect and companies would become federally licensed, the individual states would not have the power to stop it. According to many Attorney general's, federal legislation would diminish the autonomy of the individual states.
The States realize that if the federal government is faster in delivering online legislation on gambling, licensing fees, and other lucrative sources of revenue may be lost, which is the main factor why many of these states are working on their own version of legislation for online gambling.
Besides the legislation for online casinos, other gambling areas, like sports betting are also being looked at and some states already went as far as legalizing it, but If federal laws regarding the subject would pass, mass expanding sports betting would be stopped dead in their tracks, nationwide.
With strong arguments on both sides, all eyes are focused on the upcoming discussions with the House finance Committee on Internet gaming, that is expected to take place in months to come.
