The winner of the inaugural Party Poker Women's World Open Championship was decided last week when Beverley Pace beat Jen Mason in the final of the London based event. The wife of comedian Norman Pace collected $50,000 and the tournament title after trumping Mason's Ace Jack off suit with pocket sixes.
Mason collected $22,000 for second place after beating off Bronwyn Campbell, Kara Scott, Jackie Vaswani and Maria Demetriou in the final table.

Pace told media that she was thrilled to beat Mason, who she considered one of her most difficult opponents. "I have huge respect for her, and she has taught me a lot on the circuit," said Pace, "Perhaps she didn't do herself any favors as I have picked up a lot about how she plays! This is my first big win and I intend to give myself a bankroll to play more tournaments for bigger stakes in the near future. I was sixth in the Ladies European Championship in April and went to the WSOP and Aussie Millions this year but haven't really cashed significantly."

Beverley and Norman Pace are a familiar sight on the UK poker circuit. Beverley has played poker for four and a half years and when she's not at the poker table, she can be found acting as chair for the Meningitis Research Foundation charity.

"Women's tournaments are good for getting more ladies into the game," Pace said after her win. "The standard is no different to a mixed gender game but they do encourage some to come forward who wouldn't do otherwise."
The Party Poker Women's World Open Championship attracted many of the world's best female poker players including Jennifer Tilly, Liz Lieu, Shannon Elizabeth and former PartyPoker World Open winner Pippa Flanders. The buy-in for the event was $3,000.
