Busy Second Quarter Sees Net Gaming Revenues Rise By 33 Percent
Casino and other games offerings at 888.com boosted Quarter 2 revenues. This was reported by a statement this week, from the Gibraltar-based online gambling colossus.
The key performance indicators show a 36 percent increase in total operating income, reaching US$69 million (vs. the Q2 2007 earnings of $51 million), in addition to net gaming revenues that are up 33 percent to US$67 million (vs. Q2 2007 earnings of US$50 million).
Group results were highly affected by online casino action, which contributed significantly, with net gaming revenues climbing by 27 percent to US$35 million. At the same time, net gaming revenues from bingo and other growing in popularity offerings increased by a grand 376 percent to US$12 million. The group's revenue from Pacific Poker was less respectable, reflecting a 10 percent fall in revenues over the first quarter earnings that were attributed by management to players spending a greater amount of time watching the Euro 2008 international football action which was being shown on television. The group’s poker operation contributed net gross revenues of US$20 million.
At the present time, the company, 888.com claims 169,898 active poker players, however, revenues per active poker customer from the second quarter have declined by 9 percent with quarterly earnings of US$116. During that period, the number of active casino players rose by 1 percent to 77,837. As of the end of June, 888.com operated with 5.2 million gaming accounts, an increase over the 4.9 million of three months earlier.
During the six months leading up to June 30th, overall group net gaming revenue was up 35 percent, reaching US$132 million.
The group has announced good indications for the third quarter, with average daily net gaming revenues of July 2 percent ahead of the second quarter, during the first 22 days.
Gigi Levy, 888.com’s chief executive, commenting on the results, said that his company is very pleased with their Q2 2008 results. This is especially true given that 888.com achieved sequential quarterly growth throughout the Euro 2008 championship and during a period, which is typically seasonally quiet. The company’s various strategic initiatives, according to 888 chief executive Levy, are also progressing well. Levy says that given the good start to the third quarter and the company’s clear-cut business strategy, he is confident of future growth during 2008.
Highlights of operations during the period included a white label agreement with PokerDome and a strategic partnership signed in June with Sportech.
