Poker Takes to the Skies with Delta
Digital entertainment has long been a priority at Delta Airlines. Taking into account the number of poker fans flying from coast to coast has recently promptly the airline to introduce Texas Hold’Em poker to its in-flight entertainment product. The game will now be available for fans flying more than four hours from Atlanta and New York’s JFK Airport to a range of destinations such as Seattle, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Delta Airlines expects to have its new service up and running on all flights from JFK to west coast destinations by November this year. Passengers curious on whether or not Texas Hold’Em poker will be available on their flights will be able to access the company’s website, where a TV icon will provide information on the entertainment options offered. According to Jim Whitehurst, Delta’s Chief Operations Officer, the decision to offer interactive poker on Delta flights was an easy one. “Our focus for this industry-leading service is on the highest-volume transcontinental markets from Atlanta and New York City where Delta is a major competitor for long-haul customer loyalty," Whitehurst said. “Improvements to our domestic product complement our international growth and the overall transformation of our network.” Whitehurst added that the new service will also be available to customers flying from Florida to the West Coast. Texas Hold’Em poker will soon be added to “many of our overseas routes, as we continue making improvements to our international BusinessElite and international coach class products,” he said.
