U.S. Survey Shows Ten Percent Gamble Online
A new study commissioned by U.S. research firm Parks Associates has revealed that at least ten percent of regular internet users have tried gambling online. The survey "Digital Media Habits" found that ten percent of respondents regularly gamble online. 2060 individuals were interviewed for the survey’s purpose. The main objective of “Digital Media Habits” was to focus on the increasing interactive nature of online technologies, such as the uploading of video. The study attributed this increased internet activity to the widespread penetration of mobile phones in the marketplace, which has increased the capabilities of online gambling and digital recording. The survey also found similarities between the number of podcast listeners and online gamblers, and found that at least one quarter of all regular internet users are mobile phone owners. Parks reports that the margin of error in the survey is two percent.
