Betsson Says Bets Are Still On
Swedish sportsbetting firm Betsson has issued a statement reassuring investors and fans that the decision by U.S. Congress to adopt anti-gambling legislation will have little effect on the firm’s business. Betsson, which was reorganized recently from the Cherry Fortragen group, says that its operations are broken down into two categories. Betsson Online provides online gambling solutions to end users, while Net Entertainment manufactures and sells online gambling software solutions.
According to Betsson’s statement, its online business receives just three percent of its income from U.S. based gamblers. Net Entertainment generates eight percent of its revenue from the U.S. Similarly, Betsson.com and CasinoEuro.com, the firm’s major gambling sites, have never accepted online gamblers from the U.S., making U.S. legislation of little consequence.
Betsson concluded its statement with some good news for investors. All Net Entertainment shares have been distributed to Betsson's shareholders, increasing the firm’s profitability and its attractiveness to new investors.
