September Survey Reveals Top Internet Ratings for Europe
A recent survey from comScore Networks has revealed that once again the top sites visited in Europe are Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. The survey was commissioned for the month of September using data collected by the comScore World Metrix audience ratings service.
However, you may have to wait for the next survey to receive a truly accurate view of the European online world, warn some analysts. The survey measures ratings for September, therefore not yet reflecting the impact of United States legislation against internet gambling, known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The online gambling category of the survey displayed a general traffic increase in Europe of three percent. The company that benefited most from this was 888.com, which received 6.9 million visitors, and rival online gambling firm PartyGaming with 4.1 million visitors. Both firms experienced increases of nine and 16 percent respectively. Of those sites based in Europe, the greatest increase in traffic was experienced by online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which gained a massive 59.9 million visitors in September alone. Similarly, Google’s most recent billion dollar acquisition, You Tube, attracted 27.4 million visitors.
