Traffic Drops to Online Gambling Sites
The effects of the unlawful internet gambling act where demonstrated today when Nielsen /NetRatings released its online gambling sites traffic statistics for October. The company tracks 10 major online gambling sites which include both online casinos and online poker rooms.
The numbers reflect of 56% in traffic compared to the month of September. The biggest declines were noticed in websites who had announced that they will no longer take bets from the American market. Those sites represent the group of the biggest online gambling sites. A detailed look at the numbers shows that smaller sites, especially online poker rooms who for the time being keep accepting bets from American layers, showed a small increase in traffic. However the increase was negelible lost of traffic for the industry as a whole.
Although the number prove that the Unlawful Internet Gambling act had a major affect on the industry, a comparison with the traffic statistics of September 2006 still show rise of 19% traffic year over year. The sharp decline follows over a year of steady growth in the industry. The most visited website was partypoker.com followed by casinonnet.com and pokerstars.com
