Isle of Man Recognizes Software Firm as New Organization of the Year
One of the online gaming industry's top software providers has been recognized for its valuable contribution to the Isle of Man’s economy. Microgaming was named as “New Organization of the Year” in the Isle of Man Newspaper Awards 2006 held in Douglas, beating off competitors in the field who had been based in the region for between two and ten years. Commenting on the award, Microgaming’s chief executive officer Roger Raatgever thanked staff for making the win possible. “I can only quote from part of our award citation,” Raatgever said. “Microgaming quickly realised that the Internet was not just a version of an offline casino room, but a totally new playing experience with the potential to entertain and engage people in new ways. It also realised that to achieve this it would require constant evolution and innovation.” The Isle of Man Newspaper Awards were hosted by former Tory MP Gyles Bandreth, who when presenting Microgaming with the award, referred to the firm as “part of the next wave of business to take the Island into the future.”
