A new online casino based on a distinctly Motown theme is unable to cater for American players. The new Hitsville online casino and poker room owned and operated by Detroit entrepreneur Herb Strather is banned from accepting local wagers by Michigan state law and U.S federal law. Strather has gone on record committing to upholding the legislation, advising that Hitsville will turn away anyone attempting to place bets from inside the U.S.
The new Hitsville sites have implemented the latest player and IP address tracking systems to guarantee that the sites operate legally. According to Ellen Whittemore, a gaming and regulatory law attorney hired by Hitsville, the new system has been developed by WagerWorks.
Strather developed the Motown-themed online gambling sites as a way of capitalizing on the Motown legend “and on Detroit's strong music heritage.” While the entrepreneur was unable to use the Motown brand on his gambling sites, he did manage to secure the rights to “Hitsville” - a reference to the early Motown headquarters on West Grand Boulevard.
Currently, an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 players can be found logged on at Hitsville online gambling sites each day. Hitsvillecasino.com and Hitsevillepoker.com were launched on September 9 at a special party in the former Berry Gordy mansion in the Detroit's Boston-Edison neighborhood.
