PartyGaming Profits Pick Up
Online poker giant PartyGaming has reported that its daily poker revenues are recovering just weeks after a U.S ban on internet gambling was brought into force. However, the firm admitted that its player base has been adversely affected following the decision of many to open accounts with private firms ignoring the ban. According to a PartyGaming spokesperson, “overall yield per active player day has been affected by the loss of higher-raking players. However, this has been partially mitigated by strong levels of new player sign-ups that have averaged over 1 400 per day.” PartyGaming's daily online poker revenues are now averaging $721,000 per day after they plummeted in October to $637,000. Excluding the firm's sports-betting ventures, daily revenue for four weeks up until December 11 averaged $921,000 and 52,000 people are actively playing online each day. The decision to ban transactions from U.S casino players to the online poker giant's site also resulted in 945 jobs being cut – as much as 41 percent of the PartyGaming workforce. The firm is now refocusing its attempts to increase its business and add to its 67 percent of total revenue from the Middle East, Africa and Europe. A further 27 percent of revenue derives from Central and South America and Canada.
