State's Charity Donation Impacts Bottom Line
OPAP, the Greek government's state gambling monopoly, showed its charitable side this year with a donation of Euro 25 million to victims of the wild fires that ravaged the countryside these past few months. The surprise donation was revealed in the company's latest third quarter results which reported a 12 percent fall net profits to Euro 112.1 million, which it attributed to the donation to the victims of the recent wild fires. Excluding the donation, net profit in the quarter rose 2.8 percent to Euro 130.8 million.
