"LuckyMe has recently been discontinued"
After posting significant losses last year, LuckyMe, the
online gambling site based in the United Kingdom and owned
by Harrahs, has recently been discontinued.
Harrahs’ spokesman David Strow
said the decision to close down the online gambling site
was made because the site was losing money. According to
industry officials at SignOnSanDiego.com, the amount of
money the site lost last year totaled 9.3 million dollars.
LuckyMe was unique in that it offered gamblers access to
an unlimited number of games as long as they purchased a monthly
subscription. The cost for a subscription ranged from $17
to $84 a month and this allowed players monthly access to
online Bingo and other online casino games. Cash prizes ranged
anywhere from $8.5 to $1.7 million. The LuckyMe site also
included an identification process that automatically excluded
players from the United States and other countries where online
gambling is illegal.
