“Chartwell Technology Welcomes
Move Towards Online Gambling”
Britain’s approval this week
of legislation that will introduce regulated online gambling
has many in the Internet gambling industry cheering. Lee
Richardson, CEO of one such company, Chartwell Technology,
has said that the legislation will help create an online
gambling environment that is safe from fraud, scams and
cons. Richardson has also said that the introduction of
this legislation, which is supposed to go into effect in
the UK in 2006, may prompt other European nations to take
similar action. Britain is the first G-7 country to establish
a set of rules and regulations for the online gambling
industry.
Chartwell, a Canadian-based online gambling software maker,
received additional good news when its stock went up ten cents
to $10.95 in midday trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
